When it comes to romance and the rom-com genre, Christina Lauren does a good job。 So far, I have read three books of hers, including this and I can say that I like the romance in all of them。 However, what I find lacking in all the books I've read is the "ultimate" conflict or climax - the plot twist or problem that makes characters break up or something。 In this book, Macy x Elliot doesn't talk for eleven years because one night, Macy finds Elliot "cheating" on her (we know he didn't) and the s When it comes to romance and the rom-com genre, Christina Lauren does a good job。 So far, I have read three books of hers, including this and I can say that I like the romance in all of them。 However, what I find lacking in all the books I've read is the "ultimate" conflict or climax - the plot twist or problem that makes characters break up or something。 In this book, Macy x Elliot doesn't talk for eleven years because one night, Macy finds Elliot "cheating" on her (we know he didn't) and the same night, her dad died in a car accident。 Due to the pain and anger, they distance themselves until they meet one day by chance。 The reveal that the dad died was anti-climatic to me。 The book was building up to the moment they talk and tell the truth so when that part came, it was a letdown。 The ending seemed rushed。 While I liked the flashbacks, I felt that those scenes took a lot from the book。 Since those flashback scenes took time and space in the book, there wasn't enough time for the current present characters of Macy and Elliot to develop。 Their development was told through the flashbacks。 Even the romance between the two was told with the help of flashbacks。 Due to this, I felt that there wasn't much substance/chemistry between Macy x Elliot。 There wasn't much tension/passion/heat。 However, to state again, I did like some of the flashbacks as we get to know the characters from a very young age and how their friendship developed。 Young me could have related with the jealousy and teenage drama lmao。 。。。more

This book was so peaceful and elegant。 Its sentiment reminded me of perks of being a wall flower and the intensity of their pure and authentic love reminded me of lily and atlas in it ends with us。 I felt this book with my entire body but it didn’t leave me feeling drained or upset or frustrated。 It was just perfectly peaceful and I don’t think I’ve ever been this content after reading a book,(I know that sounds a bit cheesy but I don’t know how else to explain it) I really loved it。

This book is so real。 The way it depicts first times and everything。 The pace is perfect。 The miscommunication trope is done so well。 I didn't think I'd ever like that trope again This book is so real。 The way it depicts first times and everything。 The pace is perfect。 The miscommunication trope is done so well。 I didn't think I'd ever like that trope again 。。。more

Love and Another WordsDefinitely the best book from Christina Lauren。 Elliot Petropoulos is definitely the hottest book boyfriend CL has ever written (imo so no need to argue with me)。This is their first attempt to write woman fiction and I love it so much。 Beyond word。 I laugh with Macy and Elliot。 I fall in love with Ell, like what Macy did。Ceritanya bolak balik antara masa lalu dan masa sekarang, sebelas tahun setelah Elliot dan Macy berpisah。 Sementara di masa lalu punya rentang waktu lebih Love and Another WordsDefinitely the best book from Christina Lauren。 Elliot Petropoulos is definitely the hottest book boyfriend CL has ever written (imo so no need to argue with me)。This is their first attempt to write woman fiction and I love it so much。 Beyond word。 I laugh with Macy and Elliot。 I fall in love with Ell, like what Macy did。Ceritanya bolak balik antara masa lalu dan masa sekarang, sebelas tahun setelah Elliot dan Macy berpisah。 Sementara di masa lalu punya rentang waktu lebih luas, dimulai dari perkenalan Macy dan Elliot, gimana mereka berteman sampai tumbuh remaja banget。 They are each other’s little secret。 Mereka kayak hidup dalam bubble yang cuma diisi mereka berdua, dan sebagai pembaca kita bisa masuk ke bubble itu sebagai pengamat dan jatuh cinta kepada mereka。 I love their friendship。 I love their first kiss。 I love their relationship。Karena ada dua timeline, jadi misteri terjaga。 Ketika baca bagian masa lalu, jadi bertanya-tanya apa yang bikin mereka pisah? Pertanyaan ini di-build di sepanjang cerita jadi meski tebal enggak berasa lama meski ceritanya sama sekali enggak fast pace。 I could enjoy every page because I want to know about their journey and looking forward to the big reveal at the end of the story。 Plus, bagian di masa lalu related dengan bagian now。 Momen penempatannya pas。Karakternya juga menarik。 Macy enggak bubbly kayak karakter cewek CL pada umumnya。 Dia punya banyak layer, dan hubungannya dengan Sean terasa masuk akal。Elliot? Oh my Elliot! I love him so much。 Si cowok kurus kering yang isinya tulang belulang, kacamata setebal pantat botol, kawat gigi, pokoknya si kutu buku cupulah。 Setelah puber, badannya jadi tinggi dan kekar tapi masih kacamata。 Yang bikin dia turn on?Kata-kata。 Yup, si penulis yang jenius dan suka banget nanya ‘what is your favorite word?’ Sekalian belajar kosa kata nih。Ketika the big reveal terungkap, I can see it coming tapi tetap dibikin nangis kejer。 Paham banget kenapa Macy sampai menghilang gitu aja。Kayaknya bakal susah nih ada novel CL yang ngalahin L&AW di top favorit gue。 。。。more

3。5。 ok ok i want to start by saying I really enjoyed this book and thought it was beautifully written and what not。 Buuuuuuuut the story itself just sort of bothered me once I finished?? Like c’mon you really loved each other and you never ONCE looked each other up online? And you only live 70 miles apart and yet you never see each other… why did he never come down to her? Idk it just rubbed me the wrong way and took away from the story。

Christina! You kill me。 Good god。 What a book。 Narration of audio is by Erin Mallon, one of my favourite narrators and as usual she does a fab job on both male and female voices。 Fmc has had a really hard life, I love that even with repeated trauma she finds her way back to for best friend turned lover - second chance romance。 I loved the mmc he sounds like exactly like my type of man。 I loved the back and forth between the past and present。 I found the 16-18 year old period talks hilarious! que libro tan hermoso, hay libros que simplemente te calientan el corazón y este es uno de ellos。 la química y el amor de elliot y macy desde el principio es uncanny, amé el hecho de que elliot fuera tan up front。 y los flashbacks y el juego de palabras es de las cosas más bonitas que he leído de verdad。 libros como estos valen la pena。

“favorite word?” “you” “you’re the love of my life。 i assumed i would get over you eventually, but seeing you yesterday? i couldn’t go home to someone else and pretend to love her with everything i have”i cried, i laughed and i loved every moment of this story<3

This book left me absolutely speechless。 This was my second Christina Lauren book and I was expecting some humor and some conflict but I had no expectations for what actually happened in the book。 Through the whole book you’re just trying to figure out what happened between Macy and Elliot that would leave them with no contact for 11 years and when you find out, it’s heartbreaking。 The way that the story is told is incredible。 While reading, you can actually feel the love that these two characte This book left me absolutely speechless。 This was my second Christina Lauren book and I was expecting some humor and some conflict but I had no expectations for what actually happened in the book。 Through the whole book you’re just trying to figure out what happened between Macy and Elliot that would leave them with no contact for 11 years and when you find out, it’s heartbreaking。 The way that the story is told is incredible。 While reading, you can actually feel the love that these two characters have for each other and I think that’s one of the reasons that it’s such a special story。 Two people finding their way back to each other。🥺I loved the back and forth seeing how Macy and Elliot are reconnecting and how they fell in love in the first place。 Such an incredible book that will leave you heartbroken…I’m warning you guys now…if y’all go read this and it breaks your heart I won’t say I told you so🙃 。。。more

Girls we all need an Elliot petropoulos in our lives! I think this book is a little over hyped。 It’s just meh, the plot is pretty one dimensional and the romance is kinda weird going back and forth from the past to the present。 Yeah it was cute and all but nothing special also be prepared for the slowest burn of your life

"Don't spoil her with toys, spoil her with books。"✰✰I just want to start off this review by saying that I love Christina Lauren novels。 this one just really wasn't for me。I've been simmering with this book for a while, and I just found the time to write an honest review about this book。 as much as I wanted to love it, it was honestly just a flop for me。Macy was just UGH, Elliot sexually harassed some poor girl, and the only good thing about this book was that the main characters read books。 I m "Don't spoil her with toys, spoil her with books。"✰✰I just want to start off this review by saying that I love Christina Lauren novels。 this one just really wasn't for me。I've been simmering with this book for a while, and I just found the time to write an honest review about this book。 as much as I wanted to love it, it was honestly just a flop for me。Macy was just UGH, Elliot sexually harassed some poor girl, and the only good thing about this book was that the main characters read books。 I mean, c'mon。 I've seen better。 I've read better。 I've even heard better。 and the cherry on top was sex。 like hello?? it was gross, and the only thing I could think about while reading it was that they would get muddy。 BECAUSE THEY DID IT ON GRASS。 WHO DOES THAT????honestly, I'm just frustrated with the book and these characters。 as much as I wanted to love Macy and root for her and Elliot's relationship, they were just gross。 even Macy & Sean would have been a better couple (I loved his daughter tbh)another thing, how is this book even considered women's fiction?? it wasn't all that different from adult romance。overall, this book just really wasn't it for me。 I was really expecting more, and I'm honestly just disappointed I spent money on this book。 I'm definitely still a fan of Christina Lauren, but this book was a flop and a hard no for me。✰✰genre: women's fiction, romancebook rating: 2/5age rating: 14+warning: sex, masturb@tion, annoying characters 。。。more

beautiful writing and literally amazing relationship building。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This has the level of emotional depth and history that I thought was somewhat lacking from People We Meet On Vacation。 With that said, there are so many ways miscommunication could take place。 It felt like a very cheap route to use sexual assault as that plot device without even discussing it seriously。

it was literally amazing and i’ll definitely be rereading, just a little sad that it won’t be the same as reading it for the first time :(

It takes a whole lot for me to say this…。 But this has become my absolute favorite story。 I felt so much that Macy felt and her relationship with Elliott。 I’ve been there, I’ve reconciled, I’ve felt it all。 It was so real in emotion that I connected so quickly to Macy and Elliott both。 And the spice level was *perfect - Christina wrote those scenes precisely as it feels with that much love and emotion。 I mean。 I devoured。 I need more of Elliott and Macy。 😍

Suzie Showalter

Last chapter had a mildly exciting plot twist but besides that it felt repetitive。 Pretty boring plot tbh but I’m not a big love story fan so take my opinion as you will

i did not want to read this all at once but I could not put it down。

I had really high expectations for this book, and sadly I think I set them too high。 It was a cute book。 Macy wasn't a fave, especially not adult version。 Developed a soft spot for Elliot, young him。 I wish I had more to say but honestly I'm a little mad at myself for not LOVING this book。 What kept me going was just the itch to know the "reason"。 This is my first book from Christina Lauren, will give another book by her a shot in the future。 I had really high expectations for this book, and sadly I think I set them too high。 It was a cute book。 Macy wasn't a fave, especially not adult version。 Developed a soft spot for Elliot, young him。 I wish I had more to say but honestly I'm a little mad at myself for not LOVING this book。 What kept me going was just the itch to know the "reason"。 This is my first book from Christina Lauren, will give another book by her a shot in the future。 。。。more
